メンタルアップカウンセラーの越川啓子です。
新年会シーズンもそろそろ終わりを告げようとしておりますが、皆様いかがでしょうか？
ところで、忘年会シーズンから１ヶ月ほど経ちました。
辞書で意味を引くと、「その1年の苦労を忘れるために行う宴会」と書いてあります。
頑張って達成したこと、辛かったけれど乗り越えたこと、また、楽しかったこと、嬉しかったこともたくさんありましたね。
気心知れた仲間と語り合うには良い機会です。
そして特にお酒の好きな人にとっては、楽しみがいっぱいの時期でした。
しかし、毎年この時期になると、急性アルコール中毒や酒気帯び運転等の嫌なニュースも流れてきます。
適度なアルコールは気分を爽快にしてくれますが、度を超すと大変なことになります。
アルコールは脳を麻痺させる性質も持っており、量によっては生命維持にかかわる脳の中枢部分までもを麻痺させてしまうこともあります。
最終的には呼吸機能や心拍機能を停止させて死に至ることもあるのです。
宴会の前に今一度、アルコールのもたらす危険性を確認してみましょう。
急性アルコール中毒は、短時間に多量のアルコール（エタノール）を摂取することによって生じる中毒で、急性アルコール中毒の症状は血液中のアルコール濃度に比例します。
血中アルコール濃度が0.4%を超えた場合、1～2時間で約半数が死亡します。
よく、「お酒に強い体質」「お酒に弱い体質」と言うことがありますが、急性アルコール中毒の発生は、この「お酒に強い体質」「お酒に弱い体質」とは関係がなく、あくまでも血中のアルコール濃度、つまり飲んだアルコールの量に比例し、誰でもが陥る急性中毒であるそうです。
通常、飲酒すると徐々に血中アルコール濃度が上がるので、本人も酔ってきたという自覚があり、飲みすぎると足元がふらつく、吐き気がするなどの症状も出るため、自分自身である程度は飲酒量をコントロールできます。
ところが、飲酒開始から血中アルコール濃度の上昇までには時間差があり、血中アルコール濃度がピークに達するには飲酒後30～60分の時間がかかるのです。
このため短時間で大量の酒を飲むと、酔っているという自覚なしに危険な量のアルコールを摂取してしまうことがあります。
目安として、日本酒なら1升、ビールでは10本、ウイスキーではボトル1本程度を短時間で飲んだ場合には、急性アルコール中毒（生命にかかわる危険が生じる）になる可能性があることを覚えておきましょう。

@Markus I get your drift on where you were going there. I often think of my past and use it as a means to analyze where I am and where I want to get to. Where I struggel is balancing it all out. How do you guys balance things out?

I changed techs considering that after a few years of Ipl, I realized the results are not worth the cost. Next I got the sensepil. They promise that after two years’ time in case that hair grows back again, the treatments are actually no cost. They have got both laserlight and Intense pulsed light, but I am going to stay with lazer now being Ipl did not appear to reduce the quantity of hair returning.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't think you can measure life in terms of years. I think longevity doesn't necessarily have anything to do with happiness. I mean happiness comes from facing challenges and going out on a limb and taking risks. If you're not willing to take a risk for something you really care about, you might as well be dead.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained?
