カウンセリングのイメージ…
心理学を学んでいなかったころ、実は、私はカウンセリングというのは占いだと思っていました。
「悩み相談」という端的な言葉が、そうイメージさせたのだと思います。
昔、都内某所に行くと、占い館なるものがあり、一回1,000円ほどで恋愛の悩みや将来の不安、お金の問題などを聞いて（鑑定して）くれるお店があり、そこの店頭に「悩み相談」という大きな看板があったので、知らずにイメージが重なっていたのでしょう。
お恥ずかしい話しです。
さてさて、実際のカウンセリングはというと、カウンセラーがその人の思考や行動の良し悪しを鑑定することでもなく、ただ単に今後の行動を指示していくことでもありません。
では、カウンセリングとは一体何をするものなのでしょう？
答えは、“何でも良い”のです。（と、私は思っています）
カウンセリングルームの場合、空間に限界があったり、人数の問題もありますので出来ることにも制限がありますが、例えば、もしもオセロがしたかったらオセロを持参して頂ければお相手になります。
自作のエッセイを誰かに見て欲しいと思えば、どうぞお持ちになって下さい。
もちろん、会社の人や友人、隣人、家族の愚痴が言いたいときに、それらを吐き出して解毒していくことができる場所でもあり、良い情報を取り入れて自分を高めていくことができる場所でもあります。
ぴりぴり感の強い職場にお勤めなら、普段あまりできない世間話をするスペースとして利用するのも良いですね。
そう、そんなもので良いんですよ。
内容はどうであれ、要はストレスが発散できたり、息抜きができたりすればＯＫです。
充実感が得られれば良いということですね。
その方法は人それぞれですから。
アメリカでは、医療の分野でホームドクター制がとられていますが、同じようにファミリーでかかりつけのカウンセラーをつけていることも多く、まるで近所の知人の家に立ち寄るかのような感覚で、気軽にカウンセリングルームが利用されています。
ちょっと聞いてみよう、ちょっと寄って息抜きして帰ろう、そうやって利用できるのが理想的ですよね。
かつての私のように、カウンセリングを占いだと勘違いされている人がいるかどうかは分かりませんが、日本においてはまだまだ認知度、浸透性が低いのは確かです。
臨床活動を通じて、もっと気軽に快適に利用できる環境をつくってまいりたいと思っております。

Strange this post is totaly unrelated to what I was searching google for, but it was listed on the first page. I guess your doing something right if Google likes you enough to put you on the first page of a non related search. :)

@Markus I get your drift on where you were going there. I often think of my past and use it as a means to analyze where I am and where I want to get to. Where I struggel is balancing it all out. How do you guys balance things out?
